About Us
Sal Scavo originally worked in construction in Brooklyn, NY and then leased 2 pizza stores from Arturo's, one on- 4th Ave and Union the other on Smith St near 9th. Sal then moved to Sparta, NJ and opened Dominics Pizza with his cousin . Shortly after that, the Sal's Pizzeria legacy began with stores in Media, PA; Bordentown, NJ; Yardville, NJ and Mount Holly, NJ.On August 6th, 1970 Sal opened Sal's Pizza in East Windsor. One of only two pizza parlors at the time, the store originally served pizza with a choice of 7 toppings. You could also order a meatball or sausage sandwich. In the 80's many itialian dishes were added to the menu, such as lasagna, manicotti, stuffed shells, baked ziti and spaghetti. In the early 90's, a grill was added and cheese steaks became a favorite of many customers.
Today, Sals is still owned and operated by the orignal Scavo family.
Sal's Pizza has been serving pizza to three generations of East Windsor and continues to see customers return from other states in order to taste the pizza pie they remember so fondly from their childhood.
